Ways to Empower Yourself and Create a Change

Updated: Jun 25, 2021

If you’ve been feeling frustrated, angry, and helpless, know that you’re not alone. In the wake of the coronavirus, many people have reported feeling exhausted—both mentally and physically. While it’s normal to feel this way, you should know it doesn’t help you or the people around you.

So what can you do to prevent yourself from feeling helpless? Live an empowered life. No one is born empowered; it’s something people learn along the way. Although it’s not easy, it’s definitely worth it if you’re willing to put in the effort. If you’re empowered as an individual, you can empower everyone around you. Read on to find out how.

Repeat Affirmation

Repeat that you can do what you want until it sticks. Whether you have to give a presentation or bring in a potential client, repeat the phrase “I know what I’m doing.” If it helps, you can say it out loud in front of the mirror. The more you make and repeat an affirmation, the more it’s going to sink in and turn out in your favor. The key is to repeat the positive until you believe it.

Look at the Positive

Even when you’re faced with a challenging situation, focus on the positive. There’s always something to be grateful for. For instance, even in adversity, people put aside their differences and work together to achieve a common goal. However, most of us are so focused on the negative that we forget to look for the silver lining. The truth is that for every difficulty we're facing, there are hundreds of other things that are happening in our favor. We just have to shift our perception to see them.

Have Faith in Yourself

Trust that you have it in you to get the job done and achieve any goal you want. If you doubt your skills, you won’t have any trust in your abilities. Instead, try to transform all of this negative energy into believing in yourself. You CAN achieve the big dream you’ve set your mind on! You have to show yourself that you have what it takes to realize your goals. And once you see the fruit of such positivity, you’ll trust yourself more easily and become more successful. This, in turn, will empower you to make better decisions.

Take Care of Yourself

It’s important to look after yourself first. Remember, you can’t help others if you’re mentally exhausted all the time. Eliminate any activity that causes you stress—even if it doesn’t appear to be harmful. For instance, mindlessly scrolling through social media might make you feel more relaxed, but, in reality, it could be increasing your stress level, especially if you’re constantly comparing your achievements with other people. Instead, take up a sport or go for a walk. You can also spend a little time observing nature as that’s sure to make you more relaxed.
